Author: Avante Cuideiru

Third CD by the Avante Cuideiru Pipe Band, including 12 tracks, featuring innovative studio work and album production, combining surprisingly varied and modern styles and melodies.

Long description: Avante Cuideiru is probably one of the most important Pipe Bands in Asturies. The group was founded in the Asturian town of Cuideiru in 1985, with the aid of the cultural and folklore association bearing the same name.
Avante Cuideiru´s performances are not restricted to Asturies. They have represented their region for the last few year on "Covadonga Day" (Asturies Day) in Benidorm (Alicante, Valencia). They have also performed at the Asturian Centre in Madrid, been invited to RTVE (Spanish public television) programmes, and took part in the "Asturies Week" in Ibiza, as well as in Andalucia, the Balearic Islands, Castille, León, Valencia and Galicia. They were in fact the only Pipe Band to take part in the official welcome event for His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, on his visit to Asturies.
The Pipe Band has also taken part in the following events: Nazare (Portugal, 1992), the Interceltic Festival in Lorient (Breizh/Brittany, France 1993), officially representing Asturies, the Nantes Summer Festival (France,1994), the Salzburg Music Festival (Austria. 1994), Venice (Italy, 1994), the International Festival of Popular Traditions and Dances in Châteaneuf du Faou (France, 1995), the International Festival of Saint Loup and Breton Dances in Guingamp (France, 1995), the International Folklore Festival at Montréjeau (France, 1996), the International Festival of Pyrenees in Oloron Saint Marie (France, 1998), the International Festival in Kaustinen (Finland. 1999), the International Festival in Montguyon (France, 2000) and the International Festival in Murat (France, 2000).
They have recorded three CDs and a video (1994, 1997, 2000).
The Avante Guideiru Pipe Band´s conductor is Jose Manuel Fernandez "Guti", a very meticulous and innovative piper, of great prestige in the world of Asturian traditional music. He has several recordings of his own, the best known of which is his album featuring the Symphonic Orchestra of Chile.
