Long description: Corquéu´s debut album titled La Barquera (The Boat Girl)
in which the band actually has been able to live up to all the expectation
aroused by their live performances and the acclaim of the band´s two songs
included in the compilation of new Asturian folk bands Xeneración
Folk (Folk Generation). The CD was produced by Ruben Bada
(Xéliba) and Sergio Rodriguez and in it we find a great
number of compositions by Corquiéu, aside from arrangements of
traditonal pieces, all successfully reflecting the atmosphere of their concerts
with plentiful upspeeded rythms and melodies. One of the most outstanding
attributes of the album is young singer Gema Garcia´s beautiful voice
marvellously abundant in five of the CD´s eleven cuts. Definitely one of the
bands from eastern Asturies to be taken very much into account, with their
lively sound, often resounding of Llan de Cubel, though displaying more
than enough originality and energy of their own.
